International Literacy Day – Friday 8th September 2017

776 million adults worldwide can’t write their own name or read a line from a book.

In the UK 1 in 6 people struggle with literacy.

They would not pass an English GCSE and have literacy levels at or below those expected of an 11-year-old.

To raise awareness of the importance of literacy 8CC pupils released balloons (school colours) with labels attached. Great excitement took over a s they watched their balloons take to the sky.

One unfortunately popped as it left the school grounds. Another one was found outside Craigavon Hospital and the others?…… Well, we will have to wait and see.  balloon 1BIG thanks to Andy White (Tesco Community Champion) for the helium we used to fill our balloons!
